Flexibility

Detentions, broken sewage pipes, evidence collection, foreign nation military training, social events, and convoy commander all in one day. This is not some exaggeration of responsibilities. Today's Army Officer must be able to be a warrior, leader, politician, teacher, mentor, project manager, paperwork reviewer, planner, general problem solver, detective, friend, and law enforcer. Basically, life is a little more complicated than saying "execute battle drill 1A - go!"

Managing these micro-crises on a daily basis can either cause a man to develop a brain tumor of stress and anxiety or cause him to adapt and become Mr. Fix-it. There is also the gray area between these two extremes where I am currently sitting, swaying one way or the other depending on the day's disasters.

I hope to post photos soon in order to make the blog interesting for those non-readers out there, but if I don't then I don't. Currently reading "The Castle" by Kafka, only a few chapters deep - I will decide on my stance a little further into the novel.
